Have you met recently and fallen madly in love? Perhaps you’ve been together for a while and just never got around to getting married? Or have you been waiting (very!) patiently for same-sex marriage to become legal in Australia?? 

You may both be Jewish and would prefer a non-religious Wedding. Or perhaps one of you is Jewish and the other not. 

Wherever you’re coming from, with my experience you’ll have someone friendly, warm and knowledgeable to guide you through the excitement that is Getting Married! 

As a Jewish Authorised Civil Marriage Celebrant, I understand that you may wish to incorporate some Jewish customs and rituals into your wedding ceremony without it becoming a “Jewish Wedding”. 

Some couples I’ve worked with have stood under a Chuppah and enjoyed the tradition of breaking a glass. Some have recited blessings in Hebrew and in English. Others have just felt more comfortable knowing that I’m Jewish myself! 

The choices are many and how you express yourselves as a couple is entirely up to you. 

I also encourage you to consider how you may include any other cultural elements that have meaning to you as a couple and as individuals – marriage is the coming together of two people and very often the blending of rich and diverse cultures and traditions.
